"What a compelling read this is, and so satisfying: a story of a man becoming free,
a spiritual love story with all the tension of a thriller and a plot of mistaken identifies worthy of Shakespeare." - Linda Proud, author of The Botticelli Trilogy
West Chester, PA, January 26, 2012 - Paradise Misplaced: Book One of the Mexican Eden Trilogy (Swedenborg Foundation Press, $15.95, 304 pages, paperback, ISBN-13 978-087785-341-1) is the first book of a genre-spanning trilogy that explores themes of personal transformation. Shaw's vivid and meticulously researched description of Mexican society in the early twentieth century provides a unique setting for this saga about the loss of Eden.
Captain Benjamín Nyman, son of the wealthiest man in Mexico, has everything a young man could want. But in the days leading up to the Mexican Revolution of 1910, he finds himself questioning his loyalty to the regime. His mother, a staunch supporter of the dictator, is prepared to take drastic measures to keep him from defecting and joining the revolutionaries. Likewise, Benjamín Nyman will do almost anything, even impersonate a priest, in a ruse to expose his brother's fiancée as a calculating fortune hunter - but he too falls in love with her. All this, and a fateful late-night encounter with his father, set the young man on a path that leads to war, poverty, imprisonment, and a mystical friendship with a Tarahumara shaman. Together, he and the shaman plot their escape from the prison - and Benjamín faces a dilemma he never foresaw.
Benjamin's journey of personal transformation will appeal to readers of historical fiction and anyone curious about Mexican history and a Swedenborgian approach to love, life, and spirituality.

West Chester, PA, January 24, 2012 - Secrets of Heaven is Emanuel Swedenborg's magnum opus, a fifteen-volume work that delves into the inner, spiritual meaning of the Bible and lays the groundwork for the rest of his writings.
The second volume covers Genesis 9-15, beginning with God's covenant with Noah following the Flood and ending with Abraham. This is the first time that this volume of the new translation has been available.
This new translation is part of the New Century Edition of the Works of Emanuel Swedenborg, an ongoing project to render Swedenborg's theological works in clear, contemporary language that reflects the simple and engaging style of the original Latin. This is the second time that the Swedenborg Foundation is releasing the text of a New Century Edition translation in advance of the deluxe edition, which will also include a translator's preface, notes explaining historical points in the text, and an index to both volumes. The scholarly version will be released next year.

The Swedenborg Foundation Press launches a new Spanish-language program with the publication of Un recorrido por los cielos y sus maravillas, a translation of the Foundation's bestseller Afterlife.
Afterlife takes the essence of Swedenborg's classic Heaven and Hell and presents it chronologically, starting with the process of awakening after death and then taking the reader on a journey through both heaven and hell. This shorter format provides an eye-opening introduction to Swedenborg's philosophy.

With a new translation of Swedenborg's works available for the first time in over one hundred years, the Foundation is poised to make his writings known by many more people. This project is a fifteen-year, five-million dollar undertaking. The new translations, called The New Century Edition, are accompanied by explanatory footnotes, scholarly introductions, and printed in deluxe, two-color volumes. To make these works more accessible, spin-off portable editions are available for five volumes.
In addition to translations, the Foundation publishes related academic books, such as the new Swedenborg, Mesmer, and the Mind/Body Connection: The Roots of Complementary Medicine by John Haller Jr. It also makes Swedenborg's work more accessible through general interest titles, such as a new book by Bruce Henderson, Why Does God Let It Happen? This book delves into the age-old question raised by the title. Drawing from Swedenborg's work Divine Providence, the author explains how misfortune is not punishment from God, but ultimately can lead to good.
